Computer Science and IT
At The Royal School Wolverhampton, the Computer Science and IT department offers a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the digital skills necessary for success in an increasingly tech-driven world. Beginning in Key Stage 3 (KS3), students take part in a technology rotation that covers essential topics such as e-safety, spreadsheet modelling, HTML, CSS, and both visual and text-based programming. This solid foundation prepares students for more specialised learning in later years.
At Key Stage 4 (KS4), we offer two highly-regarded pathways: GCSE Computer Science and BTEC IT. Both courses are designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills, which are vital for further study and real-world applications. Our courses are popular, with healthy option numbers and students achieving well in this pathway, reflecting their commitment and enthusiasm for the subject.
Throughout all key stages, our focus is not only on technical ability but also on fostering creativity, problem-solving, and ethical use of technology. Our aim is to inspire and support students to excel in this field and become the next generation of digital innovators and leaders.
