Introduction
Pupils at The Royal School are taught by a dedicated team of caring, committed professionals, each working hard in their specialist subject area to bring out the best in every child.
We offer a rich and varied learning experience, underpinned by our core values of respect, community, trust, initiative and risk. As well as acquiring knowledge and skills and, of course, preparing students for those all-important academic exams, we also aim to provide a supportive and nurturing environment. We want to see our pupils grow over the years into confident and mature young adults with an awareness of their own potential alongside an understanding and appreciation of the wider community.
As a Free School, we continue to put the emphasis on an extended school day with the academic timetable running alongside a busy programme of extra-curricular activity and after-school clubs. Be it football, choir or the school production there is something for everyone at The Royal. We are fortunate in being able to offer outstanding facilities, including a swimming pool, dance studio, theatre and all-weather outdoor pitches.
There are many nationalities represented at The Royal and this typifies the diverse learning experience and effective preparation for the world beyond the school. Add to this the School’s long-standing tradition of a friendly, competitive house system and the opportunity for seniors to take on leadership roles through the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, Police Cadets, Nursing Cadets and Combined Cadet Force (Army and RAF) and you soon get a flavour of the unique cultural, academic and sporting mix that plays such a vital role in every child’s success.
