Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
The Royal has a long established history of working with pupils towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. This challenging scheme is well recognised as the world’s leading youth achievement award and is regarded by universities and employers as a hallmark of maturity, independence and inner strength.
Seniors work their way through the programme from Bronze through to Gold, with each stage becoming increasingly more challenging and taking longer to complete. Integral to all three levels, are challenging physical activities; organising and competing in hill walking expeditions; a requirement to master new skills and for pupils to offer their volunteering services within the local community.
DofE meetings are held at school during which time our pupils cover the essentials needed to see them through the programme – for example, team building exercises, cooking, map work and navigation. Students are also provided with guidance on using the eDofE app to upload evidence for completion of the different skills, volunteering, physical and expedition sections.
