The Swimming Teachers Association (STA) Certificate in Swimming Teaching

A four-day course with the assessment on the fourth day

The STA Certificate in Swimming Teaching is a 4 day course, with a theory portfolio to be completed during the course which is tutor assessed. On the final day the learners will teach a 30 minute lesson which will be assessed by an external examiner.

What will I learn?

To be able to teach a group of learners

• Front crawl
• Back stroke
• Breaststroke
• Butterfly
• Old english back stroke
• Starts and turns
• Lifesaving

What are the pre-requisites?

You are required to:

• Be a minimum 16 years of age
• Hold a current STA membership
• Hold an STA Award in Teaching Swimming
