From Buckingham Palace to Oz: Students Experience the Magic of Wicked

On Wednesday 26th February, Mrs Simmonds led a Music Department trip on a visit to London to watch the spectacular musical Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. It was an unforgettable experience filled with excitement, learning, and entertainment.

The group travelled to London by train, followed by catching the tube on the underground network. Upon arriving in London, we had some time to walk through Green Park to Buckingham Palace, which was a first-time experience for some of the students.

Once we arrived at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, we were amazed by its grandeur. The atmosphere inside was electric, and as the curtains rose, we were immediately drawn into the world of Oz, captivated by the incredible set design, stunning costumes, and outstanding performances by the cast.

After the show, we were treated to a Q & A session with a small selection of cast and crew members, including the Head of Wardrobe and the Company Manager. This provided a fantastic insight into the backstage world of musical theatre. It was evident that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with many students expressing a newfound appreciation for theatre and live performances.
