Year 9 Pupils Shine in Eco-Friendly Housing Project with Industry Experts

On Tuesday 25th March, we welcomed a number of employers into school to work with year 9 as part of their careers and employability education. Pupils were tasked with working as a small team to plan, design and budget for a new environmentally friendly housing estate.

Pupils had different roles within their teams, including project managers, design managers, environmental managers, finance managers and marketing managers. Each of the employers supported pupils with different aspects of the project. The employers included Nigel, Phil and Hannie from Collins Aerospace, Kat from Barclays Bank, Joanne from Taylor Woodrow and Stacey from Dudley College.

Pupils took to the task really well and demonstrated a range of key employability skills throughout the day, including problem-solving, communication, reasoning, budgeting and listening skills. The employers were very complimentary about our pupils' work ethic and ability to work together as teams to complete the task to a very high standard, making it really difficult for our employers to find the winning teams.

We are really grateful to the employers for giving up their time to support this event.
