Receptionist/Clerical Assistant

Full-time post; 8am-5pm

The job involves the following responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for all visitors to the School.
  • Daily contact with staff at the school (teaching and support) Daily contact with pupils.
  • Working closely with Attendance Officer.
  • School Archive – Responding to requests from family members tracing relatives that attended the School.
  • Updating and managing the school’s information management system (SIMS)
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school office
  • Use initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Support the Principal’s PA and school staff by carrying out administrative and organisational processes as required.
  • Work generally within set procedures and guidelines, occasional use of creativity in the solving of routine problems.

Teacher of History, full-time starting Sept 2017

The Royal School is seeking an innovative full-time permanent teacher to join the History team from September 2017 in this heavily oversubscribed free school. History attracts significant numbers of pupils at A level which has led to the need for this post. The aptitude to teach a wide range of abilities from ages 11-18 is therefore essential. The ability and enthusiasm to teach history with a flair and passion for the subject is crucial as well as flexibility within the humanities faculty.

The Humanities Faculty strives for the highest standards of learning and teaching. The department has a suite of dedicated rooms, which have recently been refurbished as a result of our new free school status. History is a very popular subject at GCSE and A level.

Part time Swim Centre Coordinator (25 hours per week)

The Royal School Wolverhampton are seeking to appoint a part time Swim Centre Coordinator to oversee, plan and manage the large and successful Learn to Swim Centre during its operating hours.

The candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and come from a swimming background as well as having excellent communication and administration/ clerical skills.

Job description

  • Maintain and oversee the daily running of the Learn to Swim Programme during operating hours providing supervision at all times
  • Manage and organise staff cover
  • Set up at start of sessions and supervise all related housekeeping tasks
  • Plan, execute and evaluate swimming lessons in line with the Royal School scheme of work and assessment criteria
  • Provide excellent professional swimming instruction to customers of all ages and abilities
  • Ensure the safety and security of all participants within the programme
  • Telephone, email and in-person swimming lesson enquiries on a daily basis
  • Oversee the smooth running of the administration/ reception team including delegation of daily tasks
  • Order equipment and supplies for the Centre
  • Check and authorise monthly time sheets for the LTS staff
  • Maintain staff absence and holiday records
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the LTS Centre and effective team working
  • Update staff notice board on a weekly basis and maintain staff communication
  • Participate in training and staff development sessions as required
  • Contribute to LTS Centre development, timetable planning and demand as required
  • Weekly meeting with the Hire Coordinator
  • Attend and participate in Centre meetings as required
  • Be aware of and comply with School and Centre policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, security, confidentiality, data protection, child protection and vulnerable adults, reporting concerns to the appropriate person.

Flexibility

All staff are expected to accept reasonable flexibility in working arrangements and the allocation of duties including duties normally allocated to posts at a lower responsibility level, in pursuance of School and Centre effective team working.

Person Specification

To have recent or relevant experience of working within a Learn to Swim Centre Programme, Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification and 2+ year’s experience of teaching children’s swimming.

Desirable Qualifications/ Training

  • RRLSSUK Teacher Rescue Award
  • RLSSUK Survive and Save Instructor
  • NPLQ
  • A willingness to undertake appropriate training, including First Aid, as deemed necessary and relevant to the role

Practical Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • A firm understanding of health and safety practices including the ability to act positively in event of an accident/incident
  • The ability to organise staff, problem solve, work well in a team as well as being self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • The ability to manage a varied work load

Part time Teacher of Social Science (Sociology and Psychology) 0.6

 

The Royal School is seeking an innovative Teacher to join the Social Science team from September 2017 in this heavily oversubscribed free school. Sociology and Psychology attract significant numbers of pupils at A level which has led to the need for this part time post. The aptitude to teach a wide range of abilities from ages 14-18 is therefore essential. The ability and enthusiasm to teach across the social sciences disciplines with a flair and passion for the subject is crucial as well as flexibility within the humanities faculty.

The Royal School is seeking an innovative Teacher to join the Science Department from September 2017 in this heavily oversubscribed free school. STEM subjects are at the heart of our education philosophy and student uptake in A-level and triple science subjects is high. The aptitude to teach a wide range of abilities from ages 11-18 is therefore essential. The ability and enthusiasm to teach across the science disciplines with a flair and passion for the subject is crucial as well as flexibility within the department.

The Science Department strives for the highest standards of learning and teaching. The department has a suite of dedicated laboratories and prep rooms, all of which will soon be completely refurbished as a result of our new free school status. Our students participate in a balanced, practical-driven key stage three programme before choosing GCSE options where triple science uptake is high. Many of our students choose A-level sciences and numbers across all A-level courses are above average. Students opt for many of our STEM based extended day activities, which range from science clubs, CREST awards, go-kart engineering club and practical science presentations.
