PTA Coronation event
In celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III, the PTA organised a wonderful afternoon tea.
It wouldn’t be a Spring event in England without a bit of drizzle - but just as the school bell rang out, it didn’t just rain, it poured. Having chased a marquee half-way across the field just moments before the crowds arrived, the organisers could have been forgiven for cancelling the event.
But that wouldn’t have been a very British thing to do.
Thankfully, the downpour stopped and within minutes the sun came out too.
Queues quickly formed at the ice cream vans and sweet stall, as families closed their brollies and rolled out their picnic blankets to enjoy sandwiches, scones and fresh cream cakes. Pupils enjoyed traditional games whilst parents enjoyed a glass or two of Pimms.
Winners were awarded prizes for the best homemade crown, name the Corgi competition and the best dressed adults were given a commemorative box of biscuits.
Pupils could choose a Royal themed temporary tattoo or a beautiful Mehndi design and excited youngsters filled the reading corner with Mrs Green.
A special thanks to the event compere, Mr Berry, who looked exceptionally smart in his tuxedo and helped the event run smoothly.
Finally, a very big thank you to everyone who organised the event, the catering staff, the hardworking volunteers and especially the sixth formers and boarders who managed the stalls.
The event perfectly showcased the school’s community spirit and it was fantastic to see so many families celebrating together and making their own memories as part of such an important and historical weekend.
It was a celebration fit for a king!
