Maths

We see maths as a passion, not just a subject.  The application of mathematical knowledge is embedded across the curriculum in a range of ways to encourage children to investigate their own interests and enthusiasms. This begins with outdoor counting and exploration in Reception, developing through the school to complex calculations whilst on a rollercoaster at a theme park!

Our approach to maths is based on practical investigation in all phases of the Primary School. All topics begin with an investigation of key elements of the topic, before exploring calculation and problem solving. All children are scaffolded to access their year group curriculum at their level.  We focus on developing mathematical vocabulary, thinking and reasoning at all levels.
